Creating a Personal Mandala

Grading Rubric

Week 1

  1. On black 12"x18" paper, construct your circle using a ruler and compass. (use light metallic pencil so you can see the lines)
  2. For the inside circle, draw a symbol (or symbols) that represent you.
  3. For the surrounding four quadrants, draw at least 2 symmetrical symbols (i.e. draw 1 symbol in quadrant #1, and the same symbol in quadrant #2).
  4. Use metallic markers and/or pastel pencils to add color to the mandala.
  5. Add pattern to the background using lines and shapes.

Week 2

  1. Continue coloring your symbols, lines and shapes (patterns), and background in with metallic colored pencils or pastels.
  2. Add details using lines and shapes.
